Chinese Vice-Premier Meets Russian Youth Delegation
Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing told a youth delegation from Russia Friday he hoped the young generations of China and Russia would make contributions to world peace, progress and prosperity.
Li, also member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, said that it is of significance for the youths of the two countries to get together at the beginning of this new century.
Exchanges between young peoples of the two countries are conducive to a sustained development of bilateral friendship, added Li.
He said he hoped that youth of the two countries would cherish the idea of peace characterized by "advancing friendship from generation to generation, and never targeting each other as enemies," and conduct further exchanges in various forms so as to enhance understanding and friendship, as well as Sino-Russian friendly cooperation.
The 100-member delegation started its China tour on September 25 at the invitation of the All-China Youth Federation.
