China Beats UAE 1-0 to Remain Unbeaten

China Beats UAE 1-0 to Remain Unbeaten
China beat UAE 1-0 Thursday in Abu Dhabi to remain unbeaten in the World Cup Asian Zone Group B qualifying tournament.

Qi Hong scored the lone goal of the match with a header off defender Sun Jihai's perfect pass in the 42nd minute.

UAE went all out for an equalizer in the second half and their best chances came with five minutes left in the game. However, Salim Saad's long-range shot hit the bar before Saeed Al Kaas put the rebounder high.

Kaas had another opportunity to save his team from the defeat shortly after but his header ended high again.

Chinese goalkeeper An Qi, who started for the first time to replace injured Jiang Jin, did a good job to protect the victory for the Chinese, who had 13 points from four victories and a draw to top Group B, followed by Qatar at eight.
