FM Spokesman: China Ready to Discuss Any Anti-Terrorism Suggestions in Security Council

China is ready to discuss, in the Security Council of the United Nations, any suggestion that will help combat terrorism, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhu Bangzao told a press conference Thursday.

Counter-terrorism requires international cooperation, Zhu said, adding the United Nations and the Security Council have played an irreplaceable role in this respect in the past years.

By passing a series of resolutions and formulating a series of pacts, the United Nations and the Security Council have formed important principles guiding international cooperation in fighting terrorism, and the international community also shares the view that they should continue playing their leading roles, he stressed.

China has been consulting with many countries over this issue, and has proposed documents about its own position, he said, adding that China is willing to take an active part in discussions within the Security Council.
