Chinese Striker Wants to Prove Himself with a Goal

Chinese international striker Xie Hui said in Abu Dhabi on Thursday that he was looking forward to scoring a goal for his Chinese national side in the following Asian World Cup qualifiers.

"I am in a very good shape and I need very much a goal to remove the burden I felt in the previous qualifiers," said Xie, who just arrived in the capital of the United Arab Emirates after helping German second division team Acchen secure a 1-0 victory over Mannheim last weekend.

Xie didn't find the net in the 90 minutes but his active assistance and vigorous running contributed to his club's triumph.

Xie said a striker should do more than scoring by himself.

"To be an excellent striker, you should know how to create chances for your teammates through active running and clever passes when you couldn't make a goal," said Xie, who had not scored in China's previous four qualifying games.

China, who leads the other four teams Qatar, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates and Oman with 10 points, will play the UAE late Thursday.

Xie, former Shanghai Shenhua forward, told reporters that he was full of confidence that he would be included in the lineup against the UAE.

"I am sure I will be fielded in the coming game and I will do my utmost to score," he said.
