Former Fujian Provincial Deputy Party Secretary Expelled From CPC

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has decided to expel Shi Zhaobin, former deputy secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, and secretary of the CPC Xiamen City Committee, from the Party for taking bribes and involvement in smuggling.

According to an investigation conducted by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Shi, who is also an alternate member of the 15th CPC Central Committee, took bribes worth 697,700 yuan from four persons, headed by Chen Yanxin, general manager of the Fujian Provincial Petroleum Corporation.

He is held responsible for rampant smuggling activities in Xiamen, especially the case of Lai Changxing, and was responsible for the corruption case involving some leading Party officials in Xiamen. He also hampered judicial departments when they were investigating three smuggling cases.

The Standing Committee of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has proposed that Shi Zhaobin should be deprived of his post as alternate member of the CPC Central Committee, expelled from the Party, dismissed from his administrative post and punished in accordance with the law.
