WTO Agreement Highlights Talent Vacuum

With membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) lurking on the horizon China is dangerously short of talent in a handful of major sectors, an expert said in Beijing on September 26,according to China Daily.

The expert, who declined to give his name, said China desperately needed to fill professional personnel gaps in the spheres of agriculture, information technology, finance, accounting, foreign exchange, law and modern management.

Meanwhile, there was also a need for senior science and technology researchers in the fields of biotechnology and environmental protection, as well as foreign language speakers and comprehensive-type personnel familiar with WTO rules and practices in a variety of fields.

The expert noted that special negotiation workers with a grasp of WTO rules, and the ability to handle international trade were also in short supply.
