New Work Style to Create New Glory: People's Daily

The People's Daily will publish an editorial Thursday to mark the successful completion of the three-day Sixth Plenum of the 15th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The plenum has analyzed the present state of the CPC's work style and worked out a decision on improving it. The decision reflects the strong desire of the whole Party and the imminent aspiration of all the Chinese people, the editorial says.

The editorial states that the CPC's style is still not in line with the new situation and new tasks. Some Party members who hold leading posts eschew hard work, and are reluctant to make further progress. A number of Party officials have failed to withstand the test of power, money and temptation. The editorial also lists other forms of wrongdoing.

The CPC's work style building must emphasize the core problems. The core is to maintain the flesh-and-blood relations between the party and the ordinary people.

The editorial says that the biggest threat to a Marxist party in power is separation from the ordinary people. All the problems of the party's work style are based on separation from the people.

The CPC's building of work style should focus on solving outstanding problems in ideological style, study style, leadership style and living style.

The editorial calls on CPC's officials to take the lead in the party's work style building, urging them to meet all the requirements set for their subordinates.

CPC Central Committee Plenum Closes

The three-day Sixth Plenum of the 15th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) closed Wednesday in Beijing.

The plenum examined and approved a decision of the CPC Central Committee on strengthening and improving the building of the Party style, and a resolution on the convening of the 16th National Congress of the CPC in the latter half of 2002.
