Macao to Hold Activities for Old People

A series of activities will be held in Macao in the coming couple of months to promote happy and colorful life among the aged, officials said at a press conference Wednesday.

On October 7, old people in Macao will have their handicrafts exhibited in a downtown square and be ready to talk about their handicrafts at dozens of stands.

It is estimated that more than 2,000 elderly people will participate in a sports meet on October 21. To add fun, some old people will give gymnastic performance.

Hundreds of old people over the age of 65 will have the opportunity to go sight-seeing on the Taipa and Coloane islands in December.

Other activities will include singing, model show and knowledge competitions.

Every year since 1992, the Social Welfare Institute has been making concerted efforts with a few other governmental departments and nongovernmental organizations to manage activities for the elderly people.
