China Reports Double-Digit Growth in Machinery, Electronic Products Export

China exported US$64.65 billion worth of machinery and electronic products in the first seven months of the year, up 15.6 percent from the same period last year.

Sources from the ongoing second China Wuhan international machinery and electronic products fair said the growth rate is 7.2 percentage points higher than the country's export growth rate.

The export of machinery and electronic products, including general machinery, automobile and motor cycle transport equipment, home appliances, electronic information and telecom equipment, power and medical equipment, accounted for 43.8 percent of the country's total export.

Overseas financed businesses played a vital role in the country 's export of machinery and electronic products, said the sources.

According to the sources, foreign-funded businesses in China did US$41.3 billion worth of machinery and electronic products exports during the period, up 18.3 percent over last year.

The second China Wuhan international machinery and electronic products fair is jointly organized by the State Office for Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, Hubei provincial government and the city government of Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.

China's export of machinery and electronic products was worth US$105.3 billion in 2000, up 36.9 percent from 1999, and accounting for 42.3 percent of the country's total export.
