China's Car Sales to Hit One Million by 2005: European Report

China's car sales will hit one million by 2005 and two million by 2010, according to Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, Europe's leading consultation firm.

In its latest report issued in Shanghai recently, the firm predicted that economical cars for private use will witness the fastest growth in the years ahead.

The firm said that a capacity surplus will not be relieved until 2005, which will be followed by massive restructuring in the sector.

The report was composed on the basis of interviews with senior managers of 10 major automobile producers and 90 parts suppliers in China and consultations with senior industry experts from South America, Europe and the United states, the company said.
