Railcom Network Operates in 50 Cities

The China Railway Communications Co Ltd (CRC) on Sunday announced the operation in 50 cities of a joint network with China's No 1 fixed line telecom operator, China Telecom.

Provided with inter-network access by China Telecom, CRC is now able to operate local and long-distance calls in other regions besides those along railways.

CRC Deputy General Manager Liu Lingjun said that CRC has started issuing telephone numbers in a score of big cities, where CRC users can enjoy lower charges than those of China Telecom. The inter-provincial network will be finished by this December.

Information technology experts note that the new operation will add to the country's telecom competitiveness.

Established last November, CRC is China's seventh operator to handle fixed lines, Internet and IP.
