Musharraf Vows to Bring Pakistan Out of Crisis

Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf said on Tuesday Pakistan is passing through very difficult times and "our endeavor is to bring Pakistan out of this crisis by keeping intact the solidarity and integrity of the country."

Musharraf made the remarks while talking to representatives of some political parties and religious groups, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

The meeting is part of the consultation process that President Musharraf has initiated in the wake of terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11.

Musharraf said that the people of Pakistan understand the complexities of the present situation and the government is well aware of their sentiments about the country's integrity and solidarity.

"We will capitalize on these sentiments to make Pakistan stronger," he said.

"At this juncture a wrong decision would give our enemies a chance to isolate Pakistan from the world. Our enemies are trying hard to damage Pakistan's international image after September 11," he said.
