The People's Daily, the leading newspaper in China, gave a full page Tuesday to commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of Lu Xun, a great writer and thinker in contemporary Chinese history.

Lu Xun (1881-1936), a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province in east China, is considered by many to be the father of modern Chinese literature and the foremost representative of the nation's conscience.

Lu Xun was well known for expressing sharp opinions in his short but forceful essays.

The People's Daily published several articles discussing the spirit of Lu Xun and his promising contribution to the future of the Chinese nation.
