IP Telephone Popular in Lhasa

Bin Laden Calls on Pakistanis to Fight the U.S.

Osama bin Laden, the prime suspect in the terror attacks on the United States, called on Pakistan's Muslims to fight "the American crusade." "I announce to you, our beloved brothers, that we are steadfast on the path of jihad (holy war) with the heroic, faithful Afghan people, under the leadership of Mullah Mohammed Omar," said a statement provided to Qatar's Al-Jazeera satellite channel Monday. The statement was signed by bin Laden and dated Sunday.  

Chinese Welcome Mid-Autumn Festival

Moon-cake is the traditional food for the Mid-Autumn Festival which falls on the 15th day of August according to Chinese lunar calendar. This year's Mid-Autumn Festival falls on October 1, China's National Day.

The Largest Wetland in China

The picture shows the general view of the largest wetland in China which located at the southeast part of Heilongjiang Province. Many first-level protection birds live in the wetland of 267,000 hectares centers about Xingkai Lake. A great investment has been put into the protection of the wetland by the Chinese central and local governments in recent years.

Fuzhou Folk Custom Museum Opens to Public

Tourists have a close look of the traditional clothings at the Fuzhou Folk Custom museum which opens Monday in Fuzhou, September 24, 2001. The museum, with some 3,000 pieces of collections, features the traditional culture of this capital city of China's southern Fujian province.

Shanghai Wild Insect Museum Opens

The 3,000-square-meter Shanghai Wild Insect Museum, the first of its kind in China, opens to public Sunday. It accommodate tens of thousands of wild insects and reptiles from all over the world.

Memorial to Ancient Chinese Female Writer

The wax figure of Li Qingzhao, China's leading female writer in the Song Dynasty 1,000 years ago, at the Li Qingzhao Memorial Hall in Jinan, capital of east China's Shandong Province September 24, 2001. Upon its renovation, the hall opens to public prior to the National Day which falls on October 1.

Renovation of Zhongshan Warship Completed

A crater on the famous Zhongshan Warship bombed by Japanese invaders on October 24,1938 is kept intact after the renovation. The Warship, named after Sun Yat-sen, the great forerunner of the Chinese Democratic Revolution, was bombed sunk in the Yangtze River during China's War of Resistance Against Japan (1937-1945). It was raised out water in 1997 and its renovation has been passed the approval recently.

Renovation of Zhongshan Warship Completed

Renovation of the famous Zhongshan Warship has passed the approval recently at the Hubei Shipyard in central China's Hubei Province. The Warship, named after Sun Yat-sen, the great forerunner of the Chinese Democratic Revolution, was bombed sunk in the Yangtze River by Japanese invaders on October 24,1938 during China's War of Resistance Against Japan (1937-1945).
