Traffic Network Developing Fast in Sichuan

People in southwest China's Sichuan Province have little to grumble about traffic-wise now that province's highway system is growing rapidly.

Sichuan is home to west China's largest expressway network, with 1,000 kilometers of expressway open to vehicles. The length of its highway of other grades hits 90,000 kilometers.

The railroad construction of the province, together with that of Chongqing Municipality and neighboring Guizhou Province, constitute the world's largest railway network of more than 5,000 kilometers long.

In addition, dozens of domestic air routes and five international routes are available in Chengdu, the province's capital.

During the next five years, Sichuan plans to build 5,000 kilometers of new roads with a budget of 60 billion yuan (about 7. 23 billion US dollars).
