Japan Donates Vaccine Cold-Storage Cars to China

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) donated five cold-storage vehicles to transport vaccines to the Chinese Ministry of Health Tuesday.

Under the China Expanded Program Immunization (EPI) Strengthening Project, JICA contributed 1.37 million yuan (about US$167,000) to buy the delivery cars this year, to support the safety of immunizations in China's western provinces and autonomous regions of Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai and Ningxia.

The China EPI Strengthening Project, which was jointly initiated by the Chinese Ministry of Health and JICA one year ago, has pushed forward the grassroots drive to get more cooling equipment in China and to train workers how to use it properly.
