An exhibition on Dr. Sun Yat- sen opened Tuesday at the former residence of the revolutionary leader in Shanghai.

The exhibition covers the life of Sun Yat-sen and the revolution he led which overthrew the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the last feudal regime in China. More than 130 pictures and other relics are on display.

Born in 1866 in Xiangshan County, now the city of Zhongshan in Guangdong Province, south China, Dr. Sun is known to Chinese as a great revolutionary and statesman who fought against imperialist aggression for the independence and freedom of China.

On the opening day of the exhibition, a new statue of Dr. Sun was unveiled in the courtyard of his former home replacing a statue made in the 1930s.

The activities mark the 90th anniversary of the 1911 revolution led by Dr. Sun and the 135th anniversary of his birth.
