Second Jiangsu Horticultural Exposition Opens
The 2nd Jiangsu Horticultural Exposition opened in Xuzhou September 24.
Present on the occasion were Sun Anhua, member of the stangding committee of Jiangsu provincial committee of the CPC, Wang Rongbing, vice governer of Jiangsu province, Fang Zhizhuo, vice chairman of the provincial People's Congress and Li Ren, vice chairman of the provincial PPCC. Local leaders also attened the event.
The 2nd Jiangsu Horticultural Exposition is held in the pictureque Yunlong Park, which is located in the center of Xuzhou city, the total area of the park is over 360 mu, of which the water area is over 260mu. After the park having been decided as the main venue of the 2nd Horticultural Exposition', a general layout was carried out in the park according to the theme 'green era-ecological parks facing the new century' by department concerned. The 13 cities directly under the provincial jurisdiction, participating in the exposition carried out the 'theme composition' respectively.
As is seen at the opening ceremony, each of the 13 scenery spots constructed by the cities has a different feature-"Natural Hill and Stream Park' by Suzhou, 'European Horticultural Exposition Park' by Taizhou, "Residential Ecological Park" constructed with natural materials by Nanjing and "Stone Park" by Yangzhou, the modern "Central Scenery Plaza" by Changzhou, "Small Houses" like Xanadu by Suqian and "Fishing Park" by Huai'an, etc.. These scenery spots fits with other 11 spots in Xuzhou very well, which are divided according to the different functions, namely 'central exhibition area', 'horticultural technology area', 'strip forest' and 'environmental child care area'.
The 14 scenery spots in the main venue of the horticultural exposition will be permanently kept as the garden work. This was announced by the vice secretary-general of the provincial government at a news conference held on Sunday.
