College Students Encouraged to Contribute to High-Tech DevelopmentChinese college students are encouraged to help the country's high-tech development by taking an active part in promoting the sector, a senior science official said.Cheng Donghong, a member of the secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology, made the remark during a ceremony Sunday to award the winners in the Challenge Cup, which honors students' creative and enterprising spirit. A total of 933 high-tech works from 67 colleges and universities across the Chinese mainland area and in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan participated in the contest at Xi'an Communication University in this capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province. Sixty-four works won first prizes. During the week-long contest, enterprises have signed industrial contracts on seventeen high-tech development projects with a total value of 70 million yuan. The Challenge Cup competition, which is co-sponsored by the Chinese Communist Youth League's (CCYL) Central Committee, the All-China Student's Federation, and the China Association for Science and Technology, is designed to stimulate students' enthusiasm for technology innovation and invention. |
