The following are figures about China's monthly foreign trade in 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

January: total, 32.342 billion U.S. dollars, up 0.9 percent from the same month last year; exports, 16.801 billion U.S. dollars, up 0.1 percent; imports, 15.541 billion U.S. dollars, up 1.9 percent.

February: total, 37.289 billion U.S. dollars, up 32.2 percent from the same month last year; exports, 19.068 billion U.S. dollars, up 29.0 percent; imports, 18.221 billion U.S. dollars, up 35.7 percent.

March: total, 43.764 billion U.S. dollars, up 15.3 percent from the same month last year; exports, 23.017 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.3 percent; imports, 20.747 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.5 percent.

April: total, 44.648 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.9 percent from the same month last year; exports, 22.791 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.1 percent; imports, 21.858 billion U.S. dollars, up 19.1 percent.

May: total, 39.619 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.9 percent from the same month last year; exports, 20.811 billion U.S. dollars, up 3.5 percent; imports 18.808 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.9 percent.

June: total, 43.331 billion U.S. dollars, up 1.9 percent. Exports, 22.080 billion U.S. dollars, down 0.6 percent; imports, 21.251 billion U.S. dollars, up 4.7 percent.

July: total, 43.843 billion U.S. dollars, up 7.0 percent. Exports, 22.888 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.6 percent; imports, 20.955 billion U.S. dollars, up 7.5 percent.
