Zhou Wins Women's Singles at Youngor Super Badminton China GP

World number one Zhou Mi of China overclassed reigning world champion and compatriot Gong Ruina 3-1 to win the women's singles at the 225,000 US dollars Youngor Super Badminton China Grand Prix Sunday in Ningbo.

Zhou, crowned at this year's Japan Open and 2000 World Grand Prix finals, defeated Gong 7-2, 7-0, 2-7, 7-4.

"I learned a lot from yesterday' tough semi-final against Zhang Ning, so I said to myself not to let it repeat again," Zhou said.

"I got sweet revenge because I was beaten by Gong twice this year," added 21-year-old Zhou, loser to Gong in world championships and Malaysia Open earlier this year.

"I pulled my left thigh in the second game," 21-year-old Gong said of her loss, adding that she probably did not warm-up well enough.

In-formed Zhou did not meet any resistance from improper Gong in the first two games before winning at 7-2 and 7-0.

Brawny Gong then stormed back with to win the third game, but she could cope with Zhou's smashes and pace, losing the fourth and match at 7-4.
