DPRK Slams Japan's Plans for Sending Troops Overseas

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Monday slammed Japan's plans for the official dispatch of its self-defense forces (SDF) overseas under the pretext of logistic assistance to US forces.

The official Korean Central News Agency said in an editorial that after the terror attacks on the United States on September 11, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi announced a seven-point proposal for assisting in military strikes to be launched by Washington and its key point is the proposed official dispatch of the SDF overseas.

"What Japan truly seeks is to unlimitedly expand the sphere of actions of the SDF and provide a judicial and institutional mechanism for re-invasion of Asia with the terrorist attacks on the United States as a momentum," said the editorial.

If the proposal is adopted as a law by Japan's parliament and put into force, the overseas dispatch of the SDF to the Asia- pacific region and even to other parts of the world will be completely institutionalized in Japan, it noted.

"The article stressed that Japan is misusing the misfortune of the United States to pave the way for re-invasion of Asia, in other words, to legalize its moves to become a military power and realize the unlimited overseas dispatch of the SDF as early as possible. This is Japan's real intention," it added.

Japanese authorities are well advised to think twice of the disastrous consequences to be entailed by its overseas troop dispatch under the pretext of "supporting the efforts to prevent terrorism," the article added.
