WUSA Clubs Cancel Post-Season Trip to China due to Terror Attacks

Due to terrorists' attacks in New York and Washington on September 11, two clubs of the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) league decided to cancel their trips to China in October.

Originally, the New York Power scheduled to play three games from October 18-29 against Chinese club teams of the Guangdong Haiyin, the Beijing Construction and the Shanghai Cable TV, and the Washington Freedom also arranged its trip to China between October 11-22.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected by the tragic events. We feel it is in the best interests of the team at this time to remain close to home," said the Power's general manager Susan Marenoff.

"We are planning instead, a competition scheduled in the US which may include a benefit game next month to aid those affected by the disaster."
