Int'l Forum on High-tech, Capital Market Opens

Nearly 1,000 people from academic, financial and business circles from home and abroad gathered in Wuhan Saturday to discuss the development of high-tech industries in the 21st century.

Jiang Zhuping, secretary of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, delivered a speech at Saturday's opening ceremony of the Second China International Forum on High- tech Industries and the Capital Market.

Participants will discuss the expansion and listing of high- tech industrial enterprises, high-tech development and incubation of high-tech enterprises, high-tech risk investment, and financial futures, with the theme of "Photoelectron Industry Facing the 21st Century".

Other activities at Wuhan, China's photoelectron valley, included discussions on the protection of intellectual property rights, and a personnel exchange and technical cooperation trade fair.

The event was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, State Intellectual Property Office, Hubei Provincial People's Government and the Science and Technology Daily.
