Famous Chinese Writer's Anniversary Marked

A memorial gathering was held in Shaoxing City, east China's Zhejiang Province, Saturday, to mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of Lu Xun (1881-1936), a well-known Chinese writer.

Lu, a native of Shaoxing, had been known for his critical attitudes towards the old regimes and is regarded as a great thinker, writer and revolutionist in the modern history of China.

On the same day, a ceremony was also held to issue the Second Lu Xun Literature Prize to 35 literary works by local writers.

Tomur Dawamat, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, attended the ceremony.
