Jiang Zemin Praises Film "Zhan Tianyou" for Patriotism

Jiang Zemin, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has spoken highly of the film "Zhan Tianyou", which premiered in Beijing Saturday.

The film "Zhan Tianyou" depicts the moving story of Zhan Tianyou, who strived his whole life to build China's railways in the hard years of the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Jiang said that the film vividly depicts the admirable character of noble-minded people, who struggled for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and it carries forward patriotic spirit.

The film is of great significance for encouraging the general public, especially the young generation, to strive for the revitalization of the Chinese nation, Jiang noted.

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Ding Guangen, who is also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Department of Publicity of the CPC Central Committee, was very concerned with the making of the film and gave concrete guidance in selecting topics and shooting of the film.

Xu Guangchun, deputy head of the Department of Publicity of the CPC Central Committee and director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, said at Saturday's debut ceremony that Jiang's comments were not only an affirmation of the film itself, but were also passionate encouragement and care for all film workers.

Xu said that this also shows Jiang pays great attention to and pins ardent expectations on the filmmaking industry in the country, adding that this will further promote the prosperity of and develop the film-making industry in the country.

Xu also encouraged all film workers to do their jobs with a down-to-earth attitude and create more excellent films for the people.
