Philately Exhibition Opens in East China

The 2001 China Philately Exhibition September 21opened in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

Jointly sponsored by the State Post Administration and the Jiangsu provincial government, the event will outdo all previous stamp exhibitions in terms of size, variety and number of participants, said a source here.

Over 1,200 stamps from 31 Chinese provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions as well as some philately associations will be on display during the exhibition.

Meanwhile, sponsors will launch other activities such as exhibitions of telephone cards, coins and matchbox pictures favored by private collectors.

The five-day exhibition will also feature auctions and art performances carrying philatelic themes.
