229 Policemen Killed in "Strike Hard" Drive
Wei Jianxing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of the China (CPC) Central Committee, met in Beijing on September 21 with a group of nine police officers who have been on a nationwide tour to inform the public about the ongoing "Strike Hard" campaign.
The police officers made their first report to the audience of this national capital on the police's efforts to fight organized crimes and crimes involving the use of explosives and firearms, and the crackdown aimed at rectifying the market order.
According to statistics, 229 police officers were killed and more than 4,000 were injured in action in the nationwide "Strike Hard" campaign between January and August this year.
After completing their report in Beijing, the group will continue the tour to other parts of the country.
The audience at Friday's meeting included Ding Guangen and Luo Gan, who are both members of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, as well as Minister of Public Security Jia Chunwang.
