Chinese NGO Promotes Contact with Foreign Countries

The Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAIU) celebrated its 20th anniversary in Beijing on September 21.

At a ceremony, CAIU President Li Guixian said that the CAIU has maintained contacts with 200 non-governmental organisations, parties and institutes in over 90 countries over the past 20 years.

Li, also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said that China has expanded its contact with the international community as it pursued the opening-up drive, and will continue to do so.

Chinese Vice Premier Qian Qichen inscribed words of encouragement for the CAIU. Jiang Zhenghua, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), and Wan Guoquan, vice chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, and Dai Bingguo, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the ceremony.
