Facts & Figures: Foreign Trade of China's Major Coastal Cities

Following are facts and figures about foreign trade volumes of China's major coastal cities from January to July, 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

-- Shanghai: 34.799 billion US dollars, up 16.3 percent from the same period last year. Exports, 15.983 billion US dollars, up 15.0 percent; imports, 18.816 billion US dollars, up 17.3 percent.

-- Guangzhou: 12.824 billion US dollars, up 2.9 percent. Exports, 6.424 billion US dollars, down 0.3 percent; imports, 6. 400 billion US dollars, up 6.2 percent.

-- Tianjin: 10.361 billion US dollars, up 14.0 percent. Exports, 5.386 billion US dollars, up 19.1 percent; imports, 4. 974 billion US dollars, up 9.0 percent.

-- Qingdao: 7.254 billion US dollars, up 18.3 percent. Exports, 4.325 billion US dollars, up 15.6 percent; imports, 2. 929 billion US dollars, up 22.7 percent.

-- Dalian: 7.192 billion US dollars, up 6.1 percent. Exports, 3.949 billion US dollars, up 1.9 percent; imports, 3.243 billion US dollars, up 11.6 percent.

-- Ningbo: 4.952 billion US dollars, up 21.0 percent. Exports, 3.465 billion US dollars, up 21.5 percent; imports, 1.487 billion US dollars, up 19.7 percent.

-- Fuzhou, in east China's Fujian province: 3.977 billion US dollars, up 3.6 percent. Exports, 2.479 billion US dollars, up 4. 2 percent; imports, 1.499 billion US dollars, up 2.7 percent.
