That means China will have its own satellite live broadcast system, and so far, many developed countries have established suchlike systems. However, China still adopts satellite to rebroadcast. So far, competition for occupying satellite orbits is very fierce and many countries have worked out plans to enter Chinese market as China is going to join the WTO. This has served as a impetus for China to make its own satellite TV programs.

By the end of 2005, China's analog TV will be totally replaced by digital TV, analog programs on CCTV-1 will stop broadcasting by December 31, 2005.

China is making research on new generation static orbit satellite platform with a designed lifespan of 15 years, and it will also develop new satellite especially for multimedia, broadcasting and broadband based on this platform.
