The numbers of people killed and missing in rainstorms in southwest China's Sichuan Province have increased to 19 and 11, respectively, according to official sources.

By 11:00 Thursday, 22 cities and counties had been hit by heavy rainfall, with Deyang City recording the largest rainfall of 367 mm.

Many local factories, storage facilities and shops have been submerged by water, according to the sources.

Governor Zhang Weizhong has sent a rescue group to inspect the situation in the affected areas.

According to local weathermen, the rains are expected to continue in the western part of the province, but the rainfall is expected to drop Friday.
