Another Yangtze River Bridge Built

The number of bridges over China's longest river, the Yangtze, increased to 24 Wednesday, when a new bridge was put into use in Yichang City, in central China's Hubei Province.

The new bridge, 40 km from the Three Gorges Dam now under construction, is 1,188 m long and 30 m wide, with a span of 960 m.

The project, which cost 895 million yuan, was launched on February 19, 1998.

The highway bridge is part of the national highway between Shanghai, in east China, and Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, in the southwest.
