China to Hold 90th Commodities Fair in October

The 90th Session of the Chinese Export Commodities Fair will be held from October 15 to 26 in Guangzhou, the provincial capital of south China's Guangdong Province.

The number of exhibition booths will total 8,153, which is 99 more than the previous fair and an all-time high, said Hu Chusheng, Vice-chairman and Secretary General of the Chinese Export Commodities Fair and Director of the China Foreign Trade Center.

The 90th Session will consist of 47 trading delegations, 29 exhibition sections and six big exhibition halls arranged according to different trades.

Internet technology will be put into use at the fair on a large scale, such as the handling of applications, the allotment of exhibition booths and information exchange, inquiries.

The organizing committee is expecting some 200,000 visitors in 194 countries and regions. Three promotion groups have been sent to Southeast Asia, Western Europe and the United States.

Inaugurated in the spring of 1957 in Guangzhou, the Chinese Export Commodities Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, has been held twice a year in Spring and Autumn ever since.

The 89th Session realized a trade volume of US$15.8 billion, sources said.
