US, S.Korean Presidents Vow to Eradicate Terrorism

Presidents of South Korea and the United States Wednesday vowed to closely consult with each other over concrete anti-terrorism measures.

In a telephone conversation at the request of US President George W. Bush, President Kim Dae-jung said his nation, a steadfast ally of the United States, will extend all necessary cooperation and support in the spirit of the Korea-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty, South Korean Presidential Spokesman Oh Hong-keun said.

South Korea will join in the international efforts against terrorism, the South Korean president said.

In the phone conversation, Bush expressed his thanks to Kim for his support to the anti terrorist efforts by the U.S. after the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington last week, hoping for further discussions with Kim when he visits South Korea next month.

Bush also said he will continue discussion with leaders of other countries to eradicate terrorism from the earth.

It is the first that Bush phoned Kim after the terrorist attacks.
