Tianjin Reports 17 Percent Growth in Foreign Trade
The north China port city of Tianjin reported a total foreign trade volume of 6.1 billion US dollars for the first eight months of this year, up 16.9 percent from a year earlier, a trade official said Thursday.
The growth rate is 10 percentage points higher than the national average for the same period, said Zhao Shangwu, deputy director of the Tianjin Municipal Economic and Trade Commission.
Zhao said new and high-tech products accounted for 23 percent of the total export, eight percentage points higher than the national average.
Tianjin plans to realize a total foreign trade of 9.7 billion US dollars this year.
