China to Officially Join WTO in November: Shi Guangsheng

China's market economy system would be further improved and market more unified and open after its WTO entry, remarked Shi Guangsheng, Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation at the 6th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, September 19.

In his speech entitled "an opened China, a bright future", Shi said, it could be expected that the fourth WTO ministerial meeting, scheduled for Doha of Qatar in November, would formally agree to accept China as WTO member.

After its entry into the WTO China will, as promised, open step by step the fields of finance, insurance, telecom, foreign trade, business, transportation, architecture, tourism and intermediary service, allowing foreign investors to set up joint ventures or solely-funded enterprises in these fields according to Chinese law, and the opening scope would be expanded.

Shi also outlined the prospects after the WTO entry in the following six aspects: China's market economy system will be further improved and policy, law making more transparent; China's market will be more unified and open, and government administration be more standardized and efficient; Chinese enterprises can acquire a fair international competition environment; new achievement can be made in economic and trade cooperation between China and its Asian neighbors; China will inject new energy into world economy; and China will play an active role in multilateral trade system.
