Memorial Gathering on Lu Xun Held in Beijing
Over 200 local writers and artists gathered in Beijing Tuesday to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the birth of Lu Xun, a great Chinese thinker, man of letters and revolutionary.
Lu's works constituted an important part of Chinese culture and his personality and noble character will forever encourage people to march forward, Jin Binghua, deputy chairman of the Chinese Writers' Association, said at the gathering.
While stressing the significance of commemorating Lu Xun at a time when the whole country is studying the "Three Representatives Theory," Jin called on all the writers to learn from Lu Xun and work to break new ground for socialist literature.
Parts of Lu Xun's masterpieces were also recited at the gathering.
