PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Syrian Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met here Wednesday with Hassan Tourekmans, deputy chief of the general staff of the Syrian armed forces, and his party.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that China has attached importance to its relations with Syria, because the development of the relations conforms to the fundamental interest of the two peoples as well as to maintaining regional and world peace, stability and prosperity.

He said that China is ready to work with Syria to promote existing friendly relations between the two states and armies in the new century.

He expressed gratitude for Syria's adherence on One-China policy and its support on human rights issues towards China.

Hassan said that the Syrian armed forces value the ties with its Chinese counterpart, hoping to learn from Chinese army. Syria would like to further the relations with China and Chinese army.
