Bangladeshi Army Deployed in Sensitive Areas Before Elections

Army deployment at different sensitive areas to ensure peaceful polling began Tuesday as announced by the caretaker administration earlier, according to the official Bangladesh News Agency.

With the deployment of army local people gained confidence about their ability to exercise their franchise.

The government has decided to deploy army across the country from September 22 ahead of the October 1 poll.

In recent times, political violence and acts of terrorism became a regular feature in the country especially in the three southern districts of Feni, Munshiganj and Bhola.

At least 56 people reportedly were injured in poll-related clashes across the country Monday.
