Immense Opportunities Draw Worldwide Chinese Entrepreneurs

The immense business opportunities in China have drawn Chinese entrepreneurs from all over the world, said an official at the ongoing Sixth World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention in this capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

Over 3,000 Chinese entrepreneurs from some 77 countries and regions are in Nanjing for the event, said Bao Yujun, vice president of the organizing committee for the convention.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region sent the largest delegation composing of 408 Chinese entrepreneurs, followed by the 273-member U.S. team and the 238-member French team, said Bao, also vice chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC).

"Plus those based in the Chinese mainland, participants to the convention have exceeded 5,000," he said.

"Overseas Chinese businessmen have all voiced excitement for coming back to China," said Bao, "Some will bring their young children here for a look at their motherland."

According to Bao, the organizing committee has arranged special routes for the tourists to visit major cities in Jiangsu Province, including Nanjing, Yangzhou and Wuxi.

"The convention is not a fair or an auction sale," said Bao, " It cannot be evaluated simply with the total number of transactions, but it will have long-term effects."

The purpose of the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, initiated in 1991, is to unite Chinese entrepreneurs worldwide to promote economic and trade cooperation and common development. Previous meetings have been held in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada and Australia.
