Detainment of Pakistanis in Macao Has Nothing to Do with US Terrorist Attack

The detainment of seven Pakistanis Sunday night had nothing to do with the terrorist attack in the United States, Macao's police chief announced.

Jose Proenca Branco, chief commander of the police force in Macao, told the press Monday that local security police detained seven Pakistanis suspected of the involvement in a theft group, among which four were found holding expired visas.

The four Pakistani people found overstaying will be repatriated, while the other three have been set free after going through certain procedures, he said.

He emphasized that this is a regular police action. "The police are responsible for investigating those suspected of overstaying."

Macao police made a raid on a house at the center of Macao Peninsula and detained the Pakistani people, which aroused the concern of the media.
