Government to Support Professional Sectors in Hong KongChief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Tung Chee Hwa met with representatives of the Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services and the Hong Kong Social Workers Association Monday, according to government release.During the meeting, Tung said the government would assist the professional sectors to maintain and further upgrade their professional skills to the highest international standards. He said new opportunities would arise with China's accession to the World Trade Organization and the government would support professional sector broadening the access to the mainland market. Tung also asked the professional sectors to look after the interests of local residents and consumers and maintain professional fees at a reasonable level. The chief executive said the government would continue to cooperate with various sectors, including the social workers, and strengthen services for young people to help them equip and progress themselves. He called on various sectors in the community to show more concern and to provide assistance for people in need. |
