China, WTO Reaches Final Accord

The accord on China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) was approved by the formal meeting of the 18th WTO Working Party on China's accession Monday in Geneva, clearing the way for Beijing to join the world trading body within months.

Full Text of Speech by Li Ruihuan at World Chinese Entrepreneurs

The following is the full text of the speech made by Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and honorary chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Sixth World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, at the opening ceremony of the convention in Nanjing this morning.

Bird's-Eye View of the Three Gorges Project Under Construction

Ranking the world's largest hydropower project, the Three Gorges Project consists of a 1,983 meter long by 185meter tall dam and 26 generating units with a combined capacity of18.2 million kilowatts. Upon completion in 2009, the project will be able to generate 84.7 billion kilowatts of electricity annually. Its permanent locks will allow a fleet of more than 10,000 DWT (dead weight tonnage) to pass.
