Beijing Gathering Marking Japanese Invasion DayMore than 1,000 people from all walks of life gathered Tuesday at the Memorial Hall for the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, where a conference was hosted on the 70th anniversary of the start of the invasion. Participants condemned the plotted invasion by Japanese militarists. They also made remarks here protesting the Japanese right-wing's attempts as well as Japanese government's approval of the textbook which aim to deny the essence of the September 18 invasion and the aggression of the Japanese militarists. Also today, an exhibition of items relating to the Japanese invasion of China began on the campus of Beijing University, attracting thousands of students. Ren Dianjue, 52, recalled the miserable life of his family after his father was captured and tortured by Japanese troops 50 years ago. "It is a must to educate youngsters to remember the shameful history and to cherish the life nowadays," Ren said. After visiting the exhibition, many Chinese students expressed the desire to study hard to contribute to motherland. Japanese young people studying in the university also conveyed their common wish for everlasting friendship between China and Japan.
