Singaporean President Visits Shanghai

Singaporean President S.R. Nathan arrived in Shanghai Tuesday afternoon for a visit and met with Xu Kuangdi, mayor of Shanghai.

Nathan, who is on a state visit to China, said Shanghai has the potential to become Asia's economic center, and he believes Shanghai's economy will grow even better after China's accession to the World Trade Organization.

Xu said Shanghai could learn a lot from Singapore in the areas of technology and management expertise. He expressed his hope that the two sides strengthen their cooperation in the future.
