China to Strictly Follow WTO Rules After Entry: SpokeswomanChina will strictly follow the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) after it becomes a full member of the WTO, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) said Tuesday.Gao Yan described the conclusion of China's WTO talks on Monday in Geneva at the 18th meeting of the WTO China Working Group as a "win-win" result that will be conducive to the economic development of both China and other members of the WTO. All legal documents concerning China's entry into the WTO were adopted at the meeting in Geneva, which meant an end to the work of the China Working Group. Gao welcomed the result of the meeting and thanked all relevant parties for their support. Those legal documents will be submitted to the ministerial meeting of WTO members in November in Doha, Qatar. China is expected to become a full member of the WTO following necessary legal procedures. China's entry into the WTO is in line with the country's reform, opening up to the outside world and its building of a socialist market economy, the spokeswoman said. The 15-year efforts of China fully demonstrate the firm confidence and determination of the Chinese government in carrying out the reform and opening policy. The Chinese government and companies are intensely preparing for the upcoming entry, she said. "China will, in accordance with the principle of balance between its rights and responsibilities, strictly follow the WTO rules and its relevant pledges while enjoying its due rights," she said. "We will work with other members of the WTO for the development of a multi-lateral trade system as well as world trade and economy."
