Guangzhou to Recruit Officials Openly

Guangzhou, this capital of south China' s Guangdong Province will conduct open recruitment of officials for posts at the government department level, according to sources reaching here Friday.

Such open selection marks a major reform move by the local personnel administration system.

According to Zhu Zhenzhong, head of the Organization Department of the Guangzhou Communist Party committee, through such open selection, possible corruption and inequity in promoting officials will be effectively avoided, and younger but talented people will be able to get the posts they really deserve.

It is learned that candidates should at least have bachelor's degrees, and they have to pass both written and oral exams and health checks before finally being chosen.
