Bush Asks Americans to Return to Work

U.S. President George W. Bush Sunday urged Americans to go back to work and put the U.S. economy back on track.

Bush, who returned to the White House from Camp David after a national security meeting, said the country remained highly alert to the possibility of more terrorist attacks.

The president said all the people have their own work to do and so does he, that is to find those who planned the bombings of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon that killed thousands.

He urged Americans to be patient, saying that the war against terrorism may last for years.

Asked to comment on a statement issued by Saudi millionaire bin Laden denying a role in Tuesday's terror attacks, but said, "No question, he is the prime suspect. No question about that."

Bush also confirmed that had given orders to the military to shoot down, if necessary, any commercial aircraft that headed for Washington after being warned away.

"I gave our military the orders necessary to protect Americans. Of course, that was difficult," he said. "Never did I dream we would be under attack this way."
