Uygur Ethnic Dance Drama Staged in Beijing
A grand Uygur ethnic dance drama named "The Flower of Dolan", as a prominent part of the ongoing Second National Joint Art Performance by Ethnic Minority Groups, made its debut Sunday in Beijing.
The drama reveals the life of the Dolan people, who are descendants of the Kangkil Tribe, some of the earliest residents in the Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang, and now live in areas along the Tarim and Yarkant Rivers.
Performed by native Dolan dancers from the Xinjiang Aksu Drama Troupe, the drama involves enchanting dances, touching music and colorful ethnic clothes, and was greatly hailed by the audience.
Ahmetjam Imin, director of the drama, expressed confidence that the Uygur dance will attract a large audience and enjoy popularity in the future, promising that he will create more ethnic dramas to promote the Uygur culture.
